The problem
Rats are highly adaptable and can survive extremes of environment and climate. They're excellent climbers, able to squeeze through the smallest gaps, and gnaw constantly to keep their teeth worn down – causing serious damage to woodwork, electrical cabling, brickwork and pipework, and posing a real fire risk. They're also considered a serious public health pest due to the diseases they can spread.
Our treatment approach
Our technicians are fully trained in the latest rodent control techniques. We take an integrated pest management approach, using professional-grade rodenticides to establish control quickly, and the most humane and environmentally friendly methods available where possible. For rat problems coming up through drains, we also offer CCTV drain surveys and non-return valve installation – see our camera drain survey service.
The problem
Mice can cause a surprising amount of damage for their size. Like rats, they gnaw constantly to keep their incisors worn down, damaging electrical wiring, timber, brickwork and pipework – which can lead to fires or floods. They're also a recognised public health pest due to the diseases they can carry.
Our treatment approach
We use an integrated approach combining professional-grade rodenticides, environmental management and proofing, plus minor proofing work to help stop mice getting back in. Prices vary with the size of the infestation and the property, with same-week appointments as standard.
The problem
One of the most feared pests, wasps can attack with little or no provocation, and stings can cause severe reactions – several people die from wasp stings in the UK every year.
Our treatment approach
We treat the nest directly with a professional-grade insecticide. Every wasp treatment we carry out is guaranteed – if it doesn't work, we'll come back and retreat the nest free of charge. Wasp nests aren't reused year to year, so if a nest isn't causing a problem it doesn't need to be removed.
Additional nests on the same property £10 to £15 · Nest removal £20
The problem
It's a common misconception that all bees are protected by law – they're not, though we only ever treat them as a last resort. Where bees aren't putting anyone at risk, the right thing to do is usually to leave them alone or have them relocated.
Our treatment approach
We always recommend contacting a local beekeeper via the British Beekeepers' Association first, to have the colony safely moved rather than destroyed. We'll only remove or treat bees ourselves if a beekeeper is unable to help, or where the risk is too high to leave them in place. Honeybees need to be treated differently again – see our dedicated Bees & Honeybees page.
The problem
Black (garden) ants nest outdoors in grass, walls and under paving, but forage widely – which is how they end up in your home, where they can contaminate food. Pharaoh ants need warm, humid conditions, so in the UK they're almost always found indoors, with nests inside wall cavities that can hold hundreds of thousands of ants.
Our treatment approach
For black ants we apply specialist insecticide in and around nests and at likely entry points – doors, windows, vents, ducts and drains – with insecticidal baits used where needed. Pharaoh ants require specialist professional baits and formulations rather than a spray treatment.
The problem
Cockroaches carry food-poisoning germs on their bodies and are linked to the spread of diseases including dysentery and gastroenteritis. They'll feed on almost anything and are rarely seen during the day, hiding in small gaps and crevices and coming out at night.
Our treatment approach
Cockroaches are notoriously difficult to eradicate without professional help. Our technicians have the knowledge and specialist products to control an infestation properly, rather than just moving it on.
The problem
Fleas aren't a sign of poor housekeeping and can turn up in any type of property. Most often associated with cats and dogs, they cause irritating bites and can, in some cases, spread disease. Adult fleas can lie dormant for up to a year without feeding, which is why DIY treatments so often fail to solve the problem for good.
Our treatment approach
Our standard treatment includes a full survey and spray treatment, carried out discreetly by a qualified technician. Prices vary with the level of infestation.
The problem
Common clothes moths, Indian meal moths and carpet moths can cause serious damage to clothes, fabrics, fur, leather and carpets – though thankfully they don't pose a health risk.
Our treatment approach
Our BPCA-certified technicians typically use professional insecticidal sprays to resolve an infestation quickly and safely. We'll also advise on prevention – cleaning clothes thoroughly before storing them, and keeping them in sealed bags or cases. Price includes a full survey and treatment.
The problem
There are thousands of species of fly, the most common being the house fly, blow flies, cluster flies and mosquitoes. Many are linked to the spread of diseases including salmonella, dysentery, TB and cholera, and mosquito bites can be genuinely distressing.
Our treatment approach
We identify the species involved and treat accordingly, since different flies call for different approaches. Prices vary with location and level of infestation.
The problem
Carpet beetle larvae ("woolly bears") feed on carpet, furniture and clothing year-round. Biscuit beetles are tiny reddish-brown insects that attack stored food – flour, biscuits, cake mixes, cereals and spices. Larder beetles scavenge food scraps, especially ham, bacon and cheese.
Our treatment approach
Beetle infestations can be genuinely difficult to control and usually need a qualified technician. We offer a free pest ID service, plus an on-site survey to confirm exactly what you're dealing with before treating it. Prices vary with species and the size of the problem.
The problem
Squirrels in a loft can cause real structural damage – tearing up insulation for bedding, chewing timbers, pipework, wiring and stored items. Chewed wiring is a genuine fire risk, and squirrels can also contaminate water supplies if they drown in an uncovered tank.
Our treatment approach
Squirrel control is tightly regulated and should only ever be carried out by a qualified professional – the poisons involved aren't available to the public. We deal with the problem professionally and humanely.
The problem
Rabbits are one of Britain's most widespread and destructive pests, causing significant damage to lawns, borders and vegetable patches.
Our treatment approach
We offer an environmentally friendly, humane rabbit control service to get your garden back under control.
Moles
£30 set-up + £20 per mole
The problem
We provide professional mole control for domestic, agricultural and commercial customers, dealing with everything from a single mole to large-scale infestations.
Our treatment approach
We use traditional break-back mole trapping, setting traps safely below the surface in the mole's own runs – a skilled craft that gets the best results. It's a humane method, killing moles instantly.
The problem
Foxes can be a genuine nuisance – damaging lawns, fouling patios and driveways, and digging under or through fencing. They're noisy at night, and can carry diseases including mange, fleas and roundworm/tapeworm that can pass to pets and people. On rare occasions they've been known to enter homes in search of food.
Our treatment approach
We use a combination of trapping, snaring and shooting as appropriate. Every fox trapped is dispatched quickly and humanely.
The problem
Pigeons and gulls cause excessive noise and large amounts of droppings, which damage stonework, erode paint and metal, and can spread disease. Nesting birds can also bring in secondary pests like mites, beetles and fleas.
Our treatment approach
There's no off-the-shelf approach to bird control – every building is different. Depending on the site, we use bird netting, anti-perch devices, bird wire systems, deterrent sound systems and even robotic scarers. See our dedicated Bird Proofing page for more on netting, solar panel proofing and spiking.
